About us

Purchased in the 1980's by Ann and John Lenton, and with only one floor completed, Chalet Benison began as an idea for a retreat for a busy family. As a sanctuary from John's travel-heavy career with a clear purpose for rest, restoration, and togetherness, Chalet Benison has been at the heart of countless family holidays and special moments.  Since purchasing, completing and upgrading the property, Ann and John have enthusiastically shared their special place with countless others.  Many of us have been enriched by their ever-flowing generosity and care - which has always felt particularly special at the chalet.  From simple meals to extravagant feasts, or a sympathetic ear and sage advice to book recommendations and competitive ping pong, we've been treated and included in the memory making with the breathtaking backdrop of the French Alps and with the most excellent company.

Benison means "blessing", and it has certainly meant that for so many of us for several decades. Now, the time has come for us (Phil and Ali) to "give it a go", and it is our hope to continue that open house tradition for many more years to come.  Whether you want to adventure in the snow, gather around the table, or simply "be", you are invited to use this home and continue to build memories and recuperate the Chalet Benison way. Please join us in our little Facebook community page (link to come!) to share ideas or local recommendations and do message us to see if we can accommodate your booking requests.

Rules

  • Please aim to leave the chalet even cleaner than it was when you arrived!  If everyone has this approach, that fresh "chalet arrival" feeling will remain special for everyone.
  • Lock up each time you leave. Thieves operate even in paradise.
  • No smoking within the structure. Fancy cigars and dirty cigarettes should all stay outside please!
  • BBQ's, fire pits and any smoking apparatus need to be fully extinguished before being left unattended. Please be sure to bank a lit fireplace and place the guard before leaving unattended.
  • Refrigerator and downstairs freezer should be emptied of perishables and switched off before vacating the chalet. If another visitor is following close behind your visit, you may leave the machines running with items that may be useful. Please no leftovers though!
  • Rubbish/Trash and recycling needs to be taken to the communal bins at the bottom on the village. Directions are posted at the chalet.
  • Please be mindful of our neighbors. They are excellent people and we couldn't do this without them! They also speak excellent English and are charming conversationalists.
  • If you see something that needs attention/maintenance please let us know.
